Mathematics Education at MSU
Michigan State University is home to a large and vibrant mathematics education community spanning several departments and two colleges. The Mathematics Education Doctoral Program is housed in the Colleges of Natural Science and Education, and received the Outstanding Graduate Program Community Award from the The Graduate School in 2019.
The Departments of Teacher Education and Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education house Mathematics Education faculty members and students with research interests in Mathematics Education studying in the Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Psychology and Educational Technology doctoral programs. The Departments of Mathematics and Statistics and Probability also house faculty members in Mathematics Education.
MSU is also home to a center for interdisciplinary research on K-16 mathematics and science education: CREATE for STEM. CREATE stands for Collaborative Research in Education, Assessment, and Teaching Environments (CREATE) for the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, (STEM).
