Spotlight on Angel Gardner

We are excited to introduce Angel Gardner, our new student worker in the Program in Mathematics Education (PRIME)!

Angel is currently a sophomore at Michigan State University, where she is pursuing a degree in Human Biology on the Pre-Med track through the Lyman Briggs College. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to continue her education by attending Pharmacy School to earn her PharmD degree and ultimately become a pharmacist. Her dedication to her academic and professional goals is evident, and we are confident that she will bring this same energy to her work at PRIME.

A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Angel spent most of her life there before moving away for college. She has always been deeply connected to her community, and her experiences growing up have shaped her aspirations. In her free time, Angel enjoys a variety of activities, from working out and drawing to spending quality time with her family and friends. She also has a creative side and loves to sing and remix songs in Band Lab, adding her personal touch to the music she enjoys. Here is some of Angel's artwork:

One of Angel’s most exciting travel experiences took place in 2022, when she was invited to a leadership summit at UCLA. During her week-long stay on the UCLA campus, she had the opportunity to visit iconic locations like Disneyland, Santa Monica Pier, and attend a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game. The experience was not only a highlight of her travels but also an opportunity to meet amazing people and engage in meaningful leadership development.

On campus, Angel is deeply involved in student organizations and leadership roles. She is an active member of Big Sister Little Sister, a mentoring program, where she serves as the Fundraising Chair. Additionally, she is part of the Michigan State Gospel Choir, serving as the Social Chair, and is the Fundraising Chair for the Kalamazoo Promise Scholars at MSU, a group dedicated to helping students from Kalamazoo, Michigan apply for summer internships and opportunities to enhance their future careers.

Angel’s strong leadership skills, commitment to service, and dedication to academic excellence make her a valuable addition to our PRIME faculty team. We look forward to seeing the impact she will make on our students and the broader academic community. Please join us in welcoming Angel Gardner to the PRIME program!
