We are pausing recruiting and admissions to the mathematics education doctoral program for one year, so there will not be admissions for a Fall 2026 entering class. Applications will reopen on August 1, 2026 for admissions for a Fall 2027 entering class. Please reach out to Lisa Keller at kellerl@msu.edu with questions or for further information about the doctoral program.
There are two other doctoral programs at Michigan State University for students with interests in mathematics education. These programs are designed to meet the needs of incoming students from a variety of backgrounds and to enable students to work in many different mathematics education vocations upon completion of the degree.
The two other doctoral programs are:
- a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education (administered by the Department of Teacher Education in the College of Education); and
- a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology (administered by the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education in the College of Education).
A variety of master’s degree programs relating to mathematics education are offered in the College of Natural Science and the College of Education. Click on the links below to find out more about these programs.
