2024 Math Ed Research Sharing Session
The third annual Mathematics Education Research Sharing session was held on November 14th in the STEM Building. The idea of a session for faculty and students to share their current research originated at the request of PRIME doctoral students to learn more about the math ed research being conducted at MSU. Over 30 were in attendance from PRIME and other units at MSU. Three informal poster-type sessions each consisting of 5 groups or individuals presenting their work occurred throughout the afternoon. Brief welcoming and closing remarks were provided by PRIME Director, Beth Herbel-Eisenmann.
Presenting this year were Sofia Abreu, Saul Barbosa, Jose Contreras, Maria Cruciani and Jenny Green, Ahmad Wachidul Kohar, Claire Lambert, Mallory Mattimore-Malan, Taylor McNeill, Miguel Rodriguez Mejia, Sasha Rudow, Matthew Voigt, Samantha Wald, and Sabrina Zarza, as well as larger project presentations from the Connected Mathematics Project team (AJ Edson, Taren Going, Elizabeth "Billie" Lozen, Ahmad Wachidul Kohar, Elizabeth "Betty" Phillips, Sasha Rudow, Yvonne Slanger-Grant) and the Youth Voices Project team (Katie Bielecki, Beth Herbel-Eisenmann, Joanne Marciano, Ishan Santra, Sabrina Zarza). Special thanks to all of our presenters for sharing their in-progress work!
This math ed research sharing session has become an annual fall tradition, and we look forward to next year’s event. Some photos from the afternoon are shared below.
