2024 Math In Action Conference
The 2024 Math in Action Conference will occur on Saturday, February 24th at Grand Valley State University. Sessions are offered in multiple modalities, and presenters and participants both have the option to attend in-person or remotely via Zoom.
The Math in Action Conference allows for lively discussion of current issues regarding mathematics education, and provides opportunities for current PreK – 12 teachers, prospective teachers, curriculum directors, and college and university faculty from institutions in Michigan to share their research and concerns.
The conference will consist of six-hour long sessions with something for every grade level in each session. Sessions will be offered either online, in-person, or hybrid, so check the program for the modality and details.
PRIME’s own Sasha Rudow, first-year mathematics education doctoral student, will be presenting on Saturday. Her presentation, titled Bite-Sized Inquiry addresses grades 6-8. Sasha shared her presentation description: “When teachers hear “inquiry-based learning” they think they have to overhaul their entire curriculum. Instead, make some small changes and still have a big impact.”
Her in-person presentation will take place 8:40 – 9:40 am in room D-1-221 of Mackinac Hall.
