Graduate Student Spotlight: Sasha Rudow
PRIME is delighted to welcome Sasha Rudow, a first-year mathematics education doctoral student. Sasha is originally from Sterling Heights, Michigan but has lived in Houston, Texas for the past eight years.
Sasha completed her bachelor of science degree in education at Central Michigan University, with a double major in math and integrated science. She then moved to Houston to complete her master's degree in curriculum and instruction with a content specialization in mathematics, at the University of Houston – Clear Lake.
Prior to coming to PRIME, Sasha was a high school math teacher for six years. She then worked at an intermediate school for two years as a mathematical instructional coach.
With one of her favorite pastimes being travel, Sasha has visited a total of 15 countries and completed her student teaching in the Dominican Republic. “My absolute favorite adventure was going to the Greek Islands Milos and Santorini,” said Rudow. In her free time, she also enjoys reading, walking, drinking coffee, and spending time with her cats.
During her time at PRIME, Sasha hopes to study and pursue research in Inquiry-Based Learning, active learning over rote memorization and regurgitation, and teacher influence on student learning.
After graduating from PRIME, Sasha sees herself doing research and teaching pre-service teachers.
Sasha says she is “so excited to be a part of the PRIME community and be a student again.”
PRIME is happy to welcome Sasha to MSU and the PRIME community. We are excited to see all she accomplishes during her time here, and wish her the best of luck!
