MSU at 2024 PME-NA
The 46th Psychology of Mathematics Education North America (PME-NA) Conference was hosted at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown in Cleveland, Ohio from November 7-10, 2024. This year’s conference theme was Envisioning the Future of Mathematics in Uncertain Times and the sessions explored how educators will teach mathematics as the political, social, and technological climate shifts.
MSU faculty and graduate students who presented research at this year’s conference include Alden J. Edson, Lauryn Crandall (Data Science), Catherine Davis, Ashley Fabry, Taren Going, Jermaine R. Howell, Ahmad Wachidul Kohar, Claire Lambert, Sunyoung Park, Sasha Rudow, Jack Smith (Emeritus), Kristen Vroom, and Sabrina Zarza.
Some of the topics presented by MSU researchers include “The Nature and Development of Students' Digital Explanations of their Proportional Reasoning”, “Using Preservice Teachers' Math Stories to Unpack Whiteness in Teacher Preparation Programs”, “Assimilating to Belong: A Critical Review of Sense of Belonging Research in Mathematics Education”, and more. A complete listing of the sessions presented by MSU faculty and students, which includes several sessions from the Connected Mathematics Project, appears below.
