Originally from Holt, Michigan, Amanda spent her early years there before moving to Haslett at the age of 10. She later lived in Mount Pleasant, then East Lansing, and now calls Williamston home.

Amanda Cartter Family photoOutside of work, Amanda enjoys a rich variety of activities. Whether it is traveling, road trips, or trying new restaurants, she values quality time spent with her family. She and her husband, Bill, have two young daughters, Natalie (6) and Bridgett (4), with whom they love to make memories. Some of their favorite pastimes include enjoying the water—whether it is boating, swimming, or beach days—attending shows at the Wharton Center, and indulging in Dairy Store ice cream. Family movie nights, board games, singing, crafts, and church are also essential parts of their lives.

Looking ahead, Amanda is excited to celebrate 10 years of marriage with her husband Bill in August. The couple has built a beautiful life together, raising their two daughters and caring for their beloved orange cat, Simba. They made the decision to move to Williamston in 2016, aiming to create a supportive and loving environment to raise their family.

When asked about her favorite adventure, Amanda shared a memorable 7-day cruise to the Caribbean. She visited several beautiful locations, including Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Antigua, and Barbados. St. Lucia left an impression as the most breathtaking place she has ever visited.

Amanda is also deeply involved in her community, particularly through her daughters’ school, St. Mary’s, in Williamston. She serves as the Classroom Representative for her oldest daughter Natalie’s 1st/2nd grade classroom, where she helps facilitate communication between teachers and families. It is clear she values contributing to the educational experience of her children and the school community.

She received her teaching certificate in 2006, planting the seed for a career in academia. Prior to joining PRIME, she worked for nine years as the Academic Program Coordinator for the School of Social Work at MSU. Before that role, she was a secretary in the primary office there for a year, with both positions giving her a wealth of experience within the MSU community.

In December 2024, Amanda took on her current role as an Academic Program Coordinator at PRIME, bringing with her years of experience in program coordination and a passion for supporting students and faculty. She is excited to be part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence.

We’re thrilled to have Amanda as part of the PRIME team, and we cannot wait to see all the great work she will continue to do and contributions she will make to the program. With her blend of professionalism, warmth, and a love for family, students, and academics, she is a wonderful addition to our community!
