PRIME Welcomes 2 New Doctoral Students in Fall 2022
PRIME is delighted to welcome two new outstanding mathematics education doctoral students this Fall 2022 semester: Claire Lambert and Sabrina Zarza.
Claire has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Oklahoma
and a master’s degree in Program Evaluation and Improvement Research (Educational
Studies) from the University of Michigan. She is interested in different mechanisms,
contexts and environments for learning and applying those to mathematics, as well
as state and national policy issues related to the improvement of K-12 mathematics
education. She is also interested in understanding how white teachers engage in culturally
responsive pedagogy in the mathematics classroom.
Sabrina has both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Mathematics from California
State University, Fullerton. She is interested in curriculum design, influencing math
interest in the classroom, especially in communities where careers in STEM fields
are lacking, and creating equitable classrooms. She has been a high school mathematics
teacher since 2013, mostly in California. In 2021-22, Sabrina taught mathematics in
Lansing at Everett High School.
Please join us in welcoming Claire and Sabrina to MSU!
